Burges Salmon introduces sector-focused training contract
2026-10-19
Burges Salmon is introducing a sector-focused training contract designed to help future lawyers develop commercial and legal knowledge of key sectors from the outset of their careers. The pilot will cover the Energy and Built Environment sectors and run alongside the firm’s existing training contract.

Trainees on the new pathways will retain the firm’s six-seat model, giving them experience across a broad range of legal disciplines while developing sustained knowledge of their chosen sector. Applications will open alongside the firm’s wider trainee recruitment campaign.

The initiative forms part of Burges Salmon’s strategy to strengthen its sector-led approach and invest in future skills. The firm says the model is intended to build commercial awareness and a deeper understanding of clients’ business environments earlier in lawyers’ careers.
